Product Review: September StrideBox

I am a subscriber to StrideBox and have been since January of this year (2014). StrideBox is a once-a-month subscription service. This is a review of what came in the September 2014 box.

StrideBox?
Stridebox is $15/month and you definetly get your moneys worth. The box generally comes with between 5 and 15 samples of various fitness nutrition items or other small fitness gadgets. The box is not too large (maybe 8" x 3"), but given the size of most fitness nutrition items a lot can fit in there. It is the same for everyone and contains different things every month. Each month you get various samples, stickers, and "The Stride Guide" which gives you a detailed description of each sample, its retail value, and sometimes even discount codes for future purchases! It is great for "newer runners" (or any runner) to help them try new things and figure out what types of hydration, nutrition, etc that they want to use. I know it has helped me find some great products.

September 2014:
This box contained:
  • The Stride Guide
  • A3 Bar (Peanut Butter & Jelly):
    • All natural and gluten-free bar packed with protein and carbs for a before or after run kick, or as an anywhere, anyplace, anytime snack.
    • I tried this after a 10 mile run before I did some strength training and yoga. It was delicious. Tasted just like a PBJ yet wasn't too sweet. I was hungry after my run and it gave me the little extra kick to keep me going.
    • $2.20
  • Clif: SHOT Blocks (Strawberry):
    • Provides a quick, chewable, energy while training and racing. Convenient cubes are 33 calories each, making it easy to track intake.
    • I have used these before. They have a very dense texture, and tend to give me the little oomph I need while on a run. Its also nice that they are small and easy to pop when you need a little energy.
    • $1.99
  • Gu: Energy Gel (Root Beer):
    • NEW FLAVOR: There's nothing better than a refreshing Root Beer after (or during) a run. All the Gu energy you want in a new flavor!
    • Gu is my favorite brand energy gel, it has a nice consistency and always tastes so good. I use these on my long runs and can't wait to try this new flavor.
    • $1.45
  • Beet Elite: Neo Shot (Regular):
    • NEW PRODUCT: Concentrated beet juice drink that helps the body make more Nitric Oxide to extend to extend endurance & improve intensity.
    • I have heard some good things about runners drinking beet juice. I have never tried it, so I have no idea if it does help. It says drink before a work-out, so I'll try it and see how it goes.
    • $3.50
  • MRM: Reload Recovery (Watermelon & Lemonade):
    • A great tasting recovery drink full of Amino Acids that helps reduce fatigue and muscle soreness while supporting muscle recovery.
    • I use drink mixes semi-regularly on long runs. But this is the first drink mix I have seen specifically marked for recovery. These two flavors sound yummy, let's see how they are.
    • $1.25 each
  • SK Energy Shot (Strawberry Lemonade):
    • NEW FLAVOR: Contains natural caffeine sourced from green coffee beans. Use before a long run, or put a little in your morning smoothie.
    • I am usually not a fan of energy drinks, they taste fake, and they give me a weird aftertaste and make me crash or are jittery. I used this to help me drive home from my Ohio beast and I liked the taste a lot, and I didn't notice a crash or after taste.
    • $2.99
  • Multifunctional Seamless "Run"dana:
    • versatile and simple multi-use seamless anti-UV bandana shaped in a tube.
    • Mine is blue with runners on it. I have seen these before and they seem a bit odd. I used it once or twice on my runs. I can see its use, but I wouldn't use it or wear it all the time.
    • $9.99
  • Some "Run: It's Time" stickers
  • Total value of box contents: $23.37

Initial Thoughts:
I will post (in comments) more about items as I try them, but this is initially how I feel about these items. Let me guys know what you think of this month's StrideBox in the comments!
